RetakeOurGov Election Integrity Program
Elections are the foundation of how we determine who will represent us. We must be able to view our elections as competently and fairly administered for all of us to have confidence in our representative government. This Election Integrity Project will do just that.
Sadly, in recent years there have been many instances of breakdowns in the election process. As citizens, it is time for us to ensure fraud does not diminish the integrity of our election process. We initiated this Election Integrity Project at RetakeOurGov because many of our members have a sincere interest in ensuring honesty and integrity in the voting process. Our members are also concerned that all eligible voters who want to vote can be confident that their votes are actually counted.
We designed our Election Integrity Project to empower citizens to work in their own and neighboring communities to help identify fraud in voter registration, processing of absentee ballot applications, or in the provisional ballot process or in-person voting. As a non-partisan organization we want to deter fraud and other improper conduct that may be attempted by a candidate, political party, or election official, as well as organized groups of individuals intent on “helping” their preferred candidate(s) at any level – local, state or federal – in ways that are against the law.
Voting is an important right and civic responsibility. Thus, we also designed our Election Integrity Project to empower our fellow citizens to help ensure that all votes properly cast are counted accurately so that no citizen is deprived of their legitimate vote.
It is our hope that citizens in counties all across Michigan will participate in our Election Integrity Project, either as individuals or as members of TEA Party groups or other civic organizations. We also hope the modules prepared as part of this Election Integrity Project will serve as models for citizens of other states who will adapt it to their own laws and circumstances.
